7th Edition of Porto7 Film Festival (Eng.Version)

The seventh edition of Porto7 – Oporto International Short Film Festival – will take place at Castelo da Foz and also at Teatro da Vilarinha from the 18th till the 22nd of June.

The competitive sessions will be projected at Castelo da Foz. There will be two competitive sessions every night. The first one starts at 21h45 and the second one at 23h.
On the 21st at 15h30 we will pay tribute to Mestre Eduardo Coutinho with one of his works being projected.
Professor Doutor Paulo Schettino (visiting Professor from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte), also a director, will be the host to remember the recently gone Master of the Cinema.

All the festival activities are free.

One of this year’s goals is to curb the trend of gathering most cultural events downtown and to show there is much more in Oporto city beyond that area.
Once more, Porto7 dares to bring this event outside the usual circuit and away from the comfort of cinema halls.
We moved to Foz do Douro this year, precisely where the river meets the sea and the event will take place at Forte de S. João Baptista da Foz, mostly known as Castelo da Foz or Forte da Foz.

Since the beginning in 2008, one of the so many goals of Porto7 is to show and to introduce different places/areas of Oporto city to Portugal and to the world. We thought that fulfilling it in a late 16th century building couldn’t be better.

Teatro da Vilarinha is an old Fiscal Guard station, built at the end of the 19th century. This theatre hall is where one of the oldest and still operating professional theatre companies in Oporto, “Pé de vento”, found their house.
On the 19th and 20th of June, there will be different non competitive sessions addressed to the children and the elderly.

The main role of Porto7 is to present new and rare movies, including recent works, repertoire movies or rarely distributed ones.
Porto7 will keep on giving movie culture to everyone interested for free.

There will be 19 short films of international fiction, 7 of national fiction, 6 documentaries and 9 animations in competition.
The video clip competition will be part of the After Festival.

Porto7 7th edition will have 8 World Premieres, 3 European and 15 in Portugal.

Free and Daily Transportation from downtown to Porto7 Festival

The Oporto International Short Film Festival will have during the five days of the event free transportation to Castelo da Foz.
The bus will depart at 21h15 from Praça da Liberdade and it will be parked in front of the well known fast food restaurant.

There will be also some tastings and offers to the audience from our Cultural Partners.

Enjoy the festival!
